Raven Carving in Cherry Wood

A scrap of wood; a pinned idea on Pinterest; a sketch on a napkin; for the ‘custom’ client, these are the blocks of inspiration that serve as the foundation of my commissioned pieces of custom fine furniture.

Initial consults, drawings, design revisions, construction considerations, the build, and, finally, the finished piece; the process creates a compelling narrative.

Build

Commissioning to have a custom piece of furniture built begins with an initial consult. After gaining insight into the desired style of furniture, dimensional constraints, and species considerations, a rough estimate covering the scope of the project is provided.

A deposit of half the amount is required prior to the design process, with remainder due upon completion. Computer renderings are created for approval based upon details outlined through the agreed specifications prior to building your custom heirloom furniture.

Woodworker Cutting Solid Hardwood

I strive to build with an emphasis on sustainability, sourcing local and regional native hardwood species, such as Indiana & Pennsylvania cherry, red & white oak, hard maple, walnut and ash.

Food grade natural oil & wax finishes is the primary choice of protection. Beyond the environmental impact of a topcoat finish, in comparison, the oil & wax finish has no VOCs and is non-toxic.

Additionally, reapplying the oil finish is a relatively easy process in order to maintain luster and protection for generations to come.
