Testimonials

“Kirby designed and then created an absolutely amazing cabinet for the art collection put together by my Aunt in the mid-20th Century when she was working in the legendary Lieber studio in Indianapolis. Kirby presented to our family a concept that perfectly captured both the period and the collection—and then crafted a cabinet that was itself high art. Beautiful wood and finish, perfect lines, and stunning interior presentation drawers for the etchings, sketches, paintings, and wood blocks.

While our family appreciated Kirby’s talent and genius, I have to observe (as the person who worked directly with Kirby on the project) that he is a solid project manager, a good listener and interpreter/explainer, and someone who delivers value and does so timely. In short, Kirby is a real pro.”

“Kirby did an absolutely amazing job building our home bar.  We gave him some rough ideas on the type of look we were going for as well as a few definite features but otherwise let him run with it.  When he sent over extremely professional computer renderings of his concept, it was absolutely perfect!  But after seeing the finished project and even watching his mind work as we discussed some other enhancements such as overhead lighting and back wall, I am convinced that he is not just a cabinet and furniture maker but a true artist.

After that project we had him build and install a mantle over one of our fireplaces which was also truly perfect.  I wouldn’t hesitate to consult him first on any projects for our home that involve any kind of wood working, absolutely our first choice!  And on top of his amazing work, he is a real great human being, too!  Thanks again, Kirby, for all of your hard and incredible work that you’ve done for us!”

“Loren Wood recommended Kirby to create cabinetry for our house when he found out how much we love wood and creativity.  We wanted woodwork that felt in tune with the forest we live in.  Working with Kirby was so wonderful; he listened and reacted to our input, and worked with us to solve any issues or questions that we had.

One of my favorite memories is working with him in his workshop to solve how to create footrests that would recess into our curved kitchen island.  Kirby even found a few mechanisms that make the cabinets more efficient for my husband who is in a wheelchair.  His workmanship is beyond compare.  Every detail is perfect.  I never hesitate to recommend Kirby.”

“Choosing Kirby to build the cabinets for our new home was an easy decision having seen his excellent work over the years on other projects. Kirby presented us with a range of options for materials, both traditional and modern, and developed a unique asymmetrical layout for our kitchen. The cabinets are masterfully crafted and showcase the natural beauty of the solid walnut wood grain. Kirby came up with an inventive and striking design, and gave his attention to every detail of the project. It was a pleasure working with Kirby!”

“I recently retired from a position as a project manager for Loren Wood Builders. That job was the perfect capstone on my career as a builder. There were several craftspeople that I got to work with in Bloomington that were truly outstanding. None were better than Kirby. Every bit of his work, from helping the clients develop their dreams into a workable plan, to the final trim out and detailing of the installation was flawlessly executed.

No project was too complex or difficult for Kirby. He would come up with great, clever, creative ways to delight the clients. I found that when I gave tours of the projects that I managed, the most fun was showing off Kirby's cool details. He was always willing to come back a year later to tweak the inevitable things that cropped up as the homes dried out and settled in. As a craftsman and a professional, Kirby is in the top few percent of the hundreds that I've had the pleasure of working with. ”
